Conference program

Spread over three days, from 25 to 27 October 2012, the Union Futures conference is organized around two main activities.

Activity 1

A Forum on Union Innovation, which will take place on 26 October, and will facilitate exchange between trade unionists on their experiences, practices and strategies. Among the challenges to be discussed are the integration of young people and immigrants into the labour movement, the role of social media as a means of communicating with members, new union recruitment strategies, the challenge of trade unionism in the public sector, etc. Those who wish to register only for the Forum on Union Innovation may do so at a cost of 250$ + taxes (100$ + taxes for students, retirees and unemployed).

Activity 2

On the 25th and the 27th of October, in addition to the forum on union innovation, more than one hundred leading national and international researchers will come together to present the results of their most recent work on union transformations, innovations and strategies.

The conference promises to offer a valuable opportunity for learning and discussion between academics and practitioners concerned with the future of unions.

You can register for the Forum on Union Innovation (Option 1 – Friday only) or for the full conference (Option 2 – Thursday to Saturday) using the Online registration portal. Please note that the number of registrations is limited by space constraints and that you must register in advance because registration includes meals.
